Skip the silly season

It is Summer. I’m sure you’ve noticed. In the media, this is also known as the silly season… and in a good many countries this is also referred to as cucumber time 🙂 The idea behind this is that there isn’t much relevant news to cover in the Summer… but hang on… are you sure? Is there nothing much relevant to blog about? I’d say: skip the Silly Season and continue blogging!

Why Blog?

Why blog? Blogging is transformational for me, in many ways. How about your fairy tales?

It is confession time. I regularly believe in my own fairy tales. This may sound cute, but the fairy tale that shocked me was when I sat down to write one of my blog posts and heard my mind tell me: “I don’t know have a topic to write about. Inspiration
is equally important for your blog as a practical approach to blogging. Blogging shouldn’t be a P.E.S.T. – meaning that it costs too much Pain Effort Stress and Time. This is my main reason for drawing inspiration and practical support from entrepreneurs. As I have benefitted so much from the tips and workshops by Elfriede Krauth, and since we’ve known each other for years and we wish each other the very best, I wanted to share the same smart strategies I enjoy so much, with you. 7 blogging mistakes you want to avoid

Let me share with you what has been part of my journey: in 2003 I started to blog as a freelance translator. I knew nothing about marketing. I had never heard of target audience, and I most certainly had never given any thought to who my ideal readers could be. All I knew was that I had a unique combination of experience, knowledge and style, as a construction engineer and translator Dutch & English. That is what I wanted to blog about. So I did 🙂  Continue reading

Clear Your Blog Fog

What is Blog Fog?

Clarity is King. Blog Fog will stand in the way. When you are not entirely clear what your main purpose of your blog is, then you have a problem. Why? Well, not only will wil show in what you write, how you write, what topics you will cover, and slow you down. You won’t connect with your readers, your content will be safe but superficial.
